CIRCULAR
ECONOMY:
THE SOLUTION
IS NEXTFLEX.
PROBLEM
Plastic and food waste
are the key causes
Our goal is finding a solution to plastic waste, while guaranteeing maximum product safety and reducing food waste.
Plastic waste
The numbers are alarming.
Around 5 trillion plastic waste particles are floating in our seas. Plastic packaging now accounts for half of all plastic produced worldwide.
Much of it is not recycled or incinerated, over 40% is used only once and then discarded. If we don’t take action in 2050 we’ll have more plastic in the oceans than fish.
Food waste
Approximately 88 million tonnes of food is wasted every year in the EU along the entire supply chain.
This is attributed 53% to families and 19% to food processing. The problem is not only the loss of food or valuable resources but also its impact on climate change.
According to FAO for every kilo of food produced, 4.5 kilos of CO2 are released into the atmosphere.
SOLUTION
Our formula:
less waste
more recycling
Reducing plastic waste, creating a circular economy.
Reducing food waste, increasing product shelf-life.
Plastic packaging is used throughout the entire food chain as it promotes the safe distribution of food over long distances, minimizing waste and keeping food fresh longer.
Lighter than other existing alternatives, thanks to its flexible nature optimises the size of the packaging by containing transport costs and reducing the resulting CO2 emissions.
It follows that simply removing plastic completely from food packaging is not as sustainable as one might think.
PRODUCT – NEXTFLEX
NextFlex, our new
generation of films
Supporting circular economy, respecting the planet.
Research and commitment
Research and commitment have led us to create a new product line of sustainable and recyclable thermoformable films and vacuum pouches:
NextFlex.
Combining 11-layer coextrusion technology with a new resin formulations based on a Mono Polyolefin (MPO) structure made of polyethylene, polypropylene and minor amount of EVOH NextFlex contributes to sustainability and meets the requirements of the regulations in terms of packaging.
High-performance raw materials, maximum of flexibility, high barrier capacity and a reduction in density of 6% when compared to similar PA structure.
