NextFlex is the result of combining 11 layer cast coextrusion technology with the new resin formulations based on a Mono Polyolefin (MPO) structure made of polyethylene, polypropylene and minor amount of EVOH. Due to the MonoPolyolefine structure of NEXTFLEX and its performance raw materials, it reduces the density by 6% when compared to similar PA structure. NEXTFLEX products have a maximum of flexibility and high barrier properties. This new generation of films supports circular economy, meeting the requirements of brand owners, packaging directives, resin producers, retailers and consumers.

Thermoforming film for vacuum application

NEXTFLEX forming and non-forming films are suitable for vacuum applications especially for products such as sausages, fresh meats w/o bones, cheese and fish. Thicknesses available in 60, 60, 100, 130, 150, 170, 200, 250 and 270 µm.

Thermoforming film for MAP application

NEXTFLEX forming films are suitable for MAP applications especially for products such as sliced processed meats and is therefore a perfect alternative to rigid films such as APET/PE. Forming thickness available in 250 and 270 µm.

Films for converters

NEXTFLEX films are also available as converting films for vacuum pouch production. Thickness available in 60, 80, 100 and 130 µm.

Vacuum pouches

COMBINEXT are vacuum pouches made from the sustainable MPO film NEXTFLEX and suitable for all foodstuffs. Due to the high oxygen barrier properties, the COMBINEXT offer an extreme increase of barrier when compared to standard vacuum pouches made from PA/PE. Thicknesses available are 60, 80 100 and 130 µm.

Embossed pouches and rolls

COMBINEXT FRESH are embossed vacuum pouches and rolls made from the sustainable MPO film NEXTFLEX. A special embossed pattern obtained by heat impression, is designed to favour a faster air suction on external vacuum sealers making this product perfect for domestic use.

Printable film for vacuum and MAP application

With an increasingly customized world, it was necessary to meet the requirements of recyclability as well as those of personalization. This input gave birth to CombiflexR, a new laminated film, printable and perfectly recyclable in a circular economy. COMBIFLEX R films are suitable for vacuum and MAP applications especially for products such as sliced processed meats. They are the recyclable alternative to classic tray top films. Available thicknesses are 65 and 85µm. Also available in peelable and anti-fog versions, it guarantees high transparency and a high barrier for increased product safety.

MPO stands for MonoPolyolefine

NextFlex design approaches circular economy through a design studied to encourage recycling, choosing only compatible materials that can be recycled together.
For this reason, NextFlex uses polypropylene and polyhetilene obtaining a polyolefin structure that is as homogeneous as possible and perfectly suited to be co-transformed into the value streams of existing plastic recycling plants.

Institut Cyclos GmbH – Institute for Recyclability and Product Responsibility – founded in 1993 in Osnabrück is today one of Germany’s leading representatives in the field of waste management and material flow. Years of experience have enabled it to develop requirements and assessment catalog (“R&A Catalogue”) to test the recyclability of packaging. Under these requirements, sorting, processing and recyclability tests are carried out on packaging materials, and the respective certificates and reports are issued to classify the level of recyclability.

The Institute has certified the suitability for recycling of forming / non-forming and vacuum pouches produced with NextFlex.

It works with customers across Europe to improve companies’ sustainability performance by evaluating smart, integrated solutions and products to improve corporate sustainability performance – for the benefit of the environment, the economy and society as a whole.

NextFlex MPOX film has been rated 19 out of 20 (very good) in terms of recyclability by Interseroh (developed together with the bifa environmental institute and certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV). The assessment consists of observing the performance of different types of packaging at collection, sorting, suitability for mechanical recycling and the provision of new recycled products from secondary raw materials.
